Epoch SRA – schedule risk analysis

Fit, stated plainly

Who Epoch SRA is for

Schedule risk analysis is a specific instrument. It earns its keep on some projects and wastes your afternoon on others, so here is the honest split.

Epoch SRA is built for you if you are…

  • a planning engineer or scheduler maintaining a networked plan in MS Project or Excel
  • a project controls manager who owns the forecast, not just the record
  • a risk analyst who wants the register to actually move the dates
  • an SRA consultant working across client programs, needing results a client can audit
  • a program manager who has to stand behind a date – and would rather commit to a P80 than a guess

Other tools will serve you better if…

  • you need simple task tracking – a list of to-dos with owners. A task manager does that job faster than any risk tool ever will
  • your team runs Kanban or sprints – flow metrics and burndown are your instruments, not critical paths
  • your project has no network schedule – no dependencies between activities. Monte Carlo propagates risk through links; without links there is nothing to propagate
  • you have no milestone commitments to defend – if nobody asks you for a date, a P80 has no job to do

The second list is there to save you time, not to gatekeep: those are good ways of working that simply do not need this instrument. If the first list is you, the 7-day trial runs a full analysis on your own schedule – or on the built-in demo program in about three minutes.
